Sports Field
In 1953, the first stadium with the running track was set up in the area of the present football pitch. This facility included a football pitch, a four-lane running track and an outdoor workout facility. Provisional locker rooms were housed in the nearby Frnaža (“furnace”) building and later on, in a shed at the stadium. The facility served its purpose well until 1958, when it needed to be demolished due to the systematic urban arrangement of the town. The athletes and sports workers had to wait until 1962 for the promised new stadium built on the location where it remains today. Altogether 5000 youngsters performed at the opening of the new stadium by organising an impressive Festival of Body Culture in the presence of a large crowd of spectators. The new sports park had a football pitch and a six-lane running track, which was the first real running track in the Primorska region.
