Museum Collection Miren
The museum collection, which is located in the cemetery building in Miren, has been showing the exhibition Remember Me since 2012. It is dedicated to all who crossed the border there in hopes of a better life; it presents their decision, the most important decision of their lives, to leave their home town and travel abroad due to various reasons. Despair, helplessness, politics and adventure drove them to cross the border, which was often a dangerous act. They risked their freedom and their lives. Between 1948 and 1955, the border was guarded the most, and 31,930 individuals were captured attempting to cross the border from Yugoslavia to get into Italy. However, they also ran in the opposite direction. As many as 23,123 individuals were caught trying to get into Yugoslavia. We will never know all who lost their lives in the process.
Due to the renovationthe the Museum Collection Miren will be closed until further notice.
